As far as keeping a finger on the political pulse, not really, but I do have one humble suggestion. You're so awesome, I'd read anything you told me to.
I like your idea for them to add a daily (or some such regularity) photo with a tag line; to steal another idea that you mentioned to me recently the tag line/caption be user submittable/vote-able also. That would make it very web 2.0!
